With the passage of time, technological advancements have even transformed the basic dog fence into something more innovative and practical. Underground dog fence and wireless dog fence are now rapidly becoming the fencing of choice of many dog owners.
Previously, there was some resistance towards such fencing systems as they make use of corrective shock therapy, which many believed to be too harsh a punishment to use for training. However, over the years, there has been acceptance as many veterinarians and animal rights activists have stated that the shock is too minor to induce severe sensation of pain. See how you feel concerning this situation in searching wireless dog fence reviews.
Wireless fencing system comes with a transmitter and a receiver. Depending on the kind of wireless fencing system purchased, the area or diameter of confinement varies. Unlike underground fencing system, in which the boundaries of confinement can be defined by burying the provided wire underground, wireless fencing systems have a pre-defined area of confinement which is a certain acres around the location of the transmitter. As the diameter of confinement is pre-determined, some dog owners purchase two similar wireless fencing systems to extend the boundary.
The transmitter sends out signals consistently to detect the location of the dog. The location is verified by detecting the receiver. The receiver is either in the form of a collar or a small device which can easily get attached to the dog’s collar. When the dog is near the pre-determined boundaries of confinement, the receiver makes a loud alarming sound to warn the dog against going further. If the dog continues to near the boundaries, the receiver negatively reinforces the dog through a minor electric shock.
At time of installing wireless dog fences for the first time, the dog needs to be trained in order to understand the reason for the negative reinforcement and to learn to stay with the defined boundaries. This training is not extensive and the dog can be fully trained in less than two to three days. Wireless dog fence is a convenient fencing system once it is installed and is believed to be a much better and more effective form of fencing for dogs.
